London lights -- beauty in the works of Tom Hunter.
Hunter used the capabilities of the camera, not to shoot the street riots and police brutality on his doorstep, but to capture the light beaming through the windows of the Hackney squats, reminding him so of what he had seen in Vermeer's work, and thus creating a powerful rhetoric: the people of Hackney belong, they share in the beauty and fullness of life and the magic of its depicted moments.
Do you have any other video by Tom Hunter or know where I can view them? I'm doing a piece on him for my A level photography? :)
