mmmm looks good...we got 'street food' up here in Canada..but mostly it's hamburgers/hotdogs and poutine. Ever hear of poutine? Fries with cheese (mozerella or curd) melted on top with hot gravy. We used to have a prime minister with the same name,,,Jean Chretian Poutine.

@0mgItzKevin i've tried sammy's before and i'll tell you that it tastes like the rest of the carts in NY trying to copy 53rd and 6th.. halal guys is the best place for gyros hands down... there hot and white sauce is the BEST.

@altab1983 For the street food, I just tried to locate where a bathroom was to wash up before and after, and that is not a negative statement. It was just kind of strategic. My French spouse was astonished by street food in NY. I lived in NYC for 17 years. I've never found better falafel than what I got outside Hunter College from a man with a cart in the late '70s. I reeked of garlic but felt great for a whole day! CHEAP!

@erochow My French spouse lived with me for part of 1994 there and we visited again in 1998. He loved that NYC street food. He was amazed by the dirty water dog. I visited alone in 2010 and didn't see any street food but I was on a super short visit for my second group show at MoMA. I was really happy with Amish food I found in a shop in Brooklyn, though. And some sort of Russian stuff, but they didn't speak Russian. That was a NY food moment! God bless NY.
dude that Sammy's halal to the left of Khan's. SAMMY'S IS THE WAY TO GO. and to those who think 53rd and 6th is better, i hope ur not basing ur decision on popularity. Sammy's is the best halal cart in NY imo.

This vendor is Pakistani; his name and accent are a dead giveaway. @1:04, your subtitle is incorrect; he's trying to pronounce "Gyro" not "Jeera". And what is he's making is not really Gyro, it's a Pakistani version of the Middle-Eastern Shawarma. The rice dish is called Biryani and the meat is always cooked with the rice. Therefore, the Lamb Biryani is authentic but the Chicken Shawarma version is a blend of Middle-Eastern and Pakistani cuisine. Doesn't really matter, as long as it tastes good.
