Students Hurt By High School Attendance Policy

Here is another case of a good student who has her hopes of college being crushed by an unreasonable high school attendance policy in Franklin County, Virginia thanks to Dr. Lackey

These were parents picking their kids up from Saturday School. We did NOT tell them what to say. Truancy is being away from school WITHOUT the parent's knowledge. The policy punishes ALL students... even those who are absent WITH parent knowledge. It destroys a good student's high school grades, ruins their ability to get into college, financial aid and scholarships. More than 200 students at the high school have been hurt by it so it needs to change.

It's important for everyone understand that the policy punishes both EXCUSED and unexcused absences when you miss more than 5 days. You still have to attend Sat. School & pay the $20 fine or get the F. This is absurd. Parents do NOT have the right to decide for their kids. If a kid stays home sick then they HAVE to go to the hospital to get a doctors excuse to qualify for the attendance waiver even if they do the work, pass the tests and the teacher & parent knows about the absence. That's wrong

why dont you people grow up a little bit instead of spending all of this time making videos with people that you clearly told to say the answers that you wanted to hear and spend more time making your kids attend school, i am a high school student and i find that the attendance policy is tough but fair so just make your kids come to school and there wont be any problems!!!!

also my friend Jessi was suspended for defending her self in a fight and her report card is straight F's (last time i saw the report card it was)
