"Arbitrary" It basicaly means independant and refers to Cromwell's autocratic rule. Giving him the crown placed limitations on his power through tadition as his role was new and he controlled law his power had no limitations as Lord protector

thank you, so kind. yea 'arbitray' is easy for me (Italian sounds: 'arbitrario'),but i didnt grasp the word's sound at all while listening to the speaker. now it all makes sense -and also noticed that the guy explains why parliament offered C. the crown a couple of minutes later. Thanks anyway. but if u feel like helping more...i missed details of Cromwell's dress during the cerimony,if u want u can write me the complete description in 3 lines :)

I he was emphasize the fact that while Cromwell was essentialy in the proces of becoming a dictator, dissolving parliment, he was still trying to appear puritan. Or if your reffering to his burial, the dress indicates Cromwell's status as supreme ruler; he was burried like a king crown ect
