Engine Company X: The New Stentorians covers the history of African-Americans from the years of 1970-2005 and covers the Los Angeles City Fire Department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the Los Angeles County Lifeguards. This installment covers the modern age of firefighting and is narrated by firefighters who are retired and still on active duty. This installment covers the difficulties African-Americans (including African-American women) experienced with a changing department, a changing political structure, and the struggle to promote fairly and keep recruitment numbers steady. Catastrophic events such as the Los Angeles Riots are also looked at as well. Appearing in this film are members of all three departments including Captain Brent Burton, Captain Veronie Steele-Small, Battalion Chief Kwame Cooper, Battalion Chief Chris Jackson, Assistant Chief Lifeguard Russ Walker, and members of the Los Angeles County Lifeguards elite Baywatch group.
