Ian is 8, non-verbal and has autism. www.afterautism.com Not long ago Ian started to tolerate us washing his hair I believe because his head doesn't hurt so badly anymore. I'm amazed at how well this haircut experience went. It has never gone so well. I think his father did a fine job and his younger brother Lane helped out by collecting all the hair to create a hair ball. Not sure what he intends to do with it. My favorite part, his direct reference to me at the end with a little smile. I think he approves of his new do. I have high functioning autism and in my life I've had only ONE buzzcutt, and that was in Hawaii when I was 6 (I'm 18 now)!

very difficult thing autism amazing job dealing with such a difficult health issue. i do wonder though that by keeping his hair longer if the interaction of you touching it and shampooing it would not benefit Ian more the social interaction of touching his hair and caring for his hair can be theraputic then the harshness of the sound and feeling of clippers. Good luck too ian and his autism loving family always helps.
