This DVD provides viewers a preview to riding the Pan-American Highway through the western portions of Colombia and Ecuador. Filmed in 2006 riding a 1998 Ural. (BMW R65 styled motorcycle) with a sidecar this DVD highlights this portion of the ride.

Initially shipping my moto via an air-freighter into Cali, Colombia from Panama City, Panama I soon realized the stereo-typical media reports were simply hype, just there way of increasing profits. I found the people open, caring, and the country...absolutely gorgeous. Individuals actually came out of their homes to offer assistance when they thought I could use it and even invited me to spend the weekends with them. I took them up on the offer.

This movie documents these and other experiences upon the roads I traveled. Sit back and enjoy an adventure of a lifetime that includes: weather, road conditions, local people and the terrific music. I hope you get as many smiles watching this film as I did making the journey.

  • HIGHWAY TO CUT THROUGH THE DARIEN GAP...This is the translation from andreisrael: Thanks

Finally after 70 years, we will move into the Darien Gap, this is confirmed and the missing part of the road in Colombia to Panama will be built. It will begin 2011, the state and prepared the document and on the 22nd of July, it will be awarded. Construction will last three years, so be ready by 2014, only 58 km is missing...from Yaviza (Panama) Panama-Colombia.

  • Gary how did your Ural hold up? Any major mechanical problems? What's your opinion of the roads from U.S. to Panama. I want to ride my HD roadking but I don't think the suspension is up to it. Great video.

  • The Ural did pretty good. I did have a main bearing casing give way on my way to Brazil after tierra del fuego. As far as the HD goes...it's a pretty heavy bike but don't let me talk you out of it. There are always new roads to conquer.

  • @lawbag you should worry more about being kidnapped.

  • Brought back memories I went from Ecuador to Venezuela, even tough we traveled by bus, we tried to make our schedule coincide with festivities along the way. Good times.!
