  • On a goto Alt-Az mounted refractor, what is the maximum exposure length I can take with this imager? I heard 30 is about the max. Would this be recommended for my goto refractor?

  • Hi Ostrich,

That’s a tough question to answer since there are many variables including what focal length your telescope is and where in the sky you are imaging (near the equator or near the poles). In general, you really just have to experiment with different length exposures and see when the field rotation becomes a problem. The chip in the G4 is smaller than a big full format camera, so that will allow you to go longer since the field of view is narrower.

    Thanks

    -Ken
