Found at Holbeck Beach, Scarborough, June 4th 2008.
These are not particularly common on the East Coast, so we are fortunate to have seen one of these fascinating creatures :)

  • beautiful creature how did you find it?

  • @natureman494 it was on the side of a medium sized rock amongst the red algae/seaweed. They can be very diffcult to see and it is best not to actually look for them as you will get frustrated. One day something will catch your eye amongst the seaweed and it'll be one of these babies :-D

  • Very nice! Where from do you come across these to have in captivity? If not caught diving please leave me a answer. I have sought a sea spider for quite a while for my reef aquariums.

  • I'm not sure. I have no experience in diving. We found this sea spider on the middle shore amongst some small clumps of algae on a rock. It was a lucky find as that is the only one we've seen.
