You cant transplant brains beacause the memory cells literaly die in a matter of seconds or minutes of no nutrient supply which means the only way to get a new brain is to clone one containing all memory cells every month for the latest memories.

Eventually replacing/repairing tissue will be just like when you're finding a software which is compatible with your own operating system.

I would argue that the lungs, heart, and brain are all mandatory for life to the minute. But without many other parts you can live day, and some parts a week. It keeps going and going. And without some parts others will take over the load and it all is taxing and you will die without a working body in general. This is a silly argument, just wanted to be silly myself.

When you are brain dead your brain is still there, but the nervous system is so severely damaged that the body does not do what the brain says because the body doesnt recieve the "message". If your brain was gone you'd be dead, but the heart can be temporarily replaced for a couple weeks or months. And you can donate hearts unlike the brain.

When people go brain dead, you can't tell the difference. The brain dies, but everything else works normally. The heart, I think, is the most important organ, it can live without the brain. The brain is also capable or repairing itself or readjusting the work load, while the heart heals very slowly and cannot take much strain after it's been injured.
martha bett said "since we were working with stem cells..."
now imagine if the whole stem cell controversy wasnt a controversy
perhaps this research wouldve been done years ago and who knows what they wouldve discovered now?

I am a transplant recipoent and I know that I will need to go through the whole ordeal again some day. These organs, developed from our own cells, would probably have a much longer shelf life. This is great news!
