Am I supposed to see the guy in the beginning as a hispanic-American stereotype, or am I reading too much into it? Sounds a little bigoted and silly.

Absolutely! However, the U.S. of A is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. But, God's speed!

Yes, it is a bit of a stereotype and yes, it is silly. However, the problem to which it refers is not funny. As an ex-LA public school teacher I can tell you that such anti-social cliques cause great damage.
PS "Hispanic -American" is a PC ism that will move even slower than " culturism"

TJ, in the book I specifically write about the Chinese exclusion act. At the time it had some justification, it no longer does. And yes, all nations, Iran, China, Korea, Mexico have borders and pick and choose who doesn't mesh. That is the international norm. We have a culture. We have a history. We are not a blank multi-culti slate. Is it wrong for other nations to have borders? Would you deny China her rights?

Yes, a culturist says western values should be the standard in western nations. This, as you saw, can mean we criticize our internal culture. It also means we restrict immigration to those cultures compatible with western culture.
