Here you will build on the basic rhythm with a combination. Follow my demonstration the way its played. In addition, when I was first starting to play I learned this rhythm first because it was easy, and I was able to learn the concept of developing my first rhythm. With time I got experience from playing in all the groups. You will too. Always practice with a metronome and start slow and gradually increase the tempo. The faster the tempo you must learn to play relaxed and calm. Good Luck!

Note: All demonstrations are considered for all levels of playing, unless otherwise noted for Beginners only. -rq

See me play it in a group below:

  • Rudy, I am a begginning percussionists I have the congas and attached to my Right conga is a sencerro/Cowbell that i play with a drum stick with my right hand. so I only have my left hand to play the congas so i alternate L R L R L R L R while im keeping the rhytm on my cowbell is that right or wrong? Any other ideas or combinations i can do?

  • This is totally fine. I play the bell with my right hand which limits the amount of notes I can play with my right hand on the conga- Just the main notes i play
