At the Opening Plenary of the United States Conference on AIDS 2011, the Native and Asian & Pacific Islander communities came together to protest the lack of inclusion of these communities in HIV prevention at the national and local levels. Sharon Day of the Indigenous Peoples Task Force and Lance Toma, Executive Director of Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center gave the protest speeches before Secretary of Health & Human Services Kathleen Sebelius took the stage.

Protesters were from American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
