The video was produced as part of climate change mitigation project by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP), Barbados. Students invested by collecting and bringing used vegetable oil to school, which was collected by the NGO and brought to the sole proprietor for processing into biodiesel and glycerin. The biodiesel was then sold on the local market. The students received cash for each litre of oil invested and were able to add to their income stream by managing a small pop corn business which used a generator powered by biodiesel. Over the project life time, the environment was protected from approximately 6000 tons of CO2.
