Working with homeless youth providers across Illinois, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) released a report that analyzes how well they meet the needs of unaccompanied youths -- teens who are alone and homeless on the street.
Several Chicago youths who were helped off the street told their personal stories during the 20-minute press conference in which CCH presented the report's findings.
Also participating was State Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago), whose North Side district includes neighborhoods where many homeless youths live.
Among other things, the study found that 87 percent of youths exiting youth programs this year were able to move into safe, stable housing.
