Thanks so much for posting this video! What an inspiration this is for me. My son is 13 years old and has Crohn's Disease. We are actually at the hospital now. He has been living in so much pain over the last 2 years. It breaks my heart. He is such a tough kid though. But he is also very terrifed. These past few days here in the hospital have been so very rough for us. :(

@gogovideo10 I am Arielle's mother. She is doing well and now leads a normal teenage life. She has a few bumps in the road, but she is such an inspiration. She just keeps going and looking forward to each day. I thank God for her and for her courage through it all. I will keep you in my prayers and many blessing to you and your family.

I have Pancolitis too, I was diagnosed just last month.
I understand how disgustingly painful a disease it is, and how hard it must have been for you, your daughter and your family to have to go through, but hopefully now she's ok and healing well :)
I don't know if this is the route i'm going or if other medication is going to work, so wish me luck!

@ChaoticKylee Thanks so much for the encouraging words. My husband Bill made this video in the hopes that it would be inspiring to others. Arielle is doing just fine. She finally went back to school after missing 9 months and still made honor roll. She will celebrate her 14th birthday next month. I am delighted that this video was a blessing to you.

I am in tears. You have such a beautiful daughter. Her outlook on life is wonderful. Even with all the troubles she has faced and will face in the future she faces them head on with a smile on her face. I have Crohn's Disease and may be facing a surgery in the upcoming months or years and seeing this video makes me think that if this little girl can do it I can do it too. Thank you so much so posting this and God bless you and your family. :)

I believe this is genetic. My Dad has crohn's, and I am being told that they are pretty certain that I have UC. I have lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. I can't eat. I want to so bad, but I just can't. My liver has even been affected. This is a tough thing. Your Daughter is a trooper.

Your daughter is very brave at 13 and to have done her research on this life changing operation,i had my large intestine removed when i was 42 and found it very daunting but glad to still be alive,as like your daughter we can still live life to the full and still enjoy the fine foods of the world,i wish her and all your family a very happy future.

@SheerHeartAttack74 Congratulations to you you. I'd love to find out how others have fared with treatment using medical marijuana. What did your doctors say to your results?
I have UC. Mine didn't pop up until 25. It seems to me that it's definitely a genetic disease. They have found over 80 bad genes that are associated with IBD but they don't know what they do exactly. If there are a lot of genes involved it would explain why some people have severe symptoms and others have light to medium.
I hope they move forward with research but with so many genes involved I doubt I'll see a cure in my lifetime. I'm just glad my symptoms aren't worse than they are.

@endthedisease I had no idea that UC was so prevalent until my daughter got it. The doctors fall just short of classifying it as a genetic disease, but I also believe it is genetic. I truly hope a cure is found. It has been a long year. Only the removal of my daughter's large intestine (at 13) relieved her pain. At one point it was so debilitating that she could barely walk from the bed to the bathroom. The abdominal pain was too much & she was too weak from malnutrition and dehydration.
