Please report the cost in real money - like euros - and not in a fake currency like dollars or shekel.

I forgot that dollars are fake money

7 times more powerful doesn't sound that impressive. If his meaning was like in the expression "7 orders of magnitude" then it might be like switching from an optical microscope to an electron microscope.
If such an expensive device was built at only 7x bigger rather than 5x or 10x, perhaps the scientists have some idea that the thing or things they are looking for will fit neatly within this new range.
Is that the case?

That's exactly what I was wondering.

After checking, suppose I was getting warm based on something I recalled. Go to Wikipedia, List of Particles, CERN, LHC, etc. to see some details. I am no particle physicist, but the mass numbers expected for this Higgs Boson might be in range of 200 Gev to over 1 Tev which seems to put 7x factor in the ballpark. And the LHC seems like it could go up to 3.5 Tev, so they should be able to find some intertesting things one way or the other.
Happy hunting!

Everything changes. Space, time, matter. How can you expect to recreate conditions that no longer exist?

good answer. I find it wierd that they called it the God particle. I heard some where they just did it to ge talittle attention. Lol as if the LHC needs anymore attention .Cant wait tell it is up and running

I think it is running again now (yay) although they are only performing low power experiements with the plan to gradually increase the power so that they don't blow another hole in it!
