The online giant Google has plans to scan all the books in the world, and then to make them available on its search engine. The initiative could offer unprecedented access to an enormous collection of human knowledge, but it has created controversy over who stands to profit from it. The Google project has generated criticism among academics, authors and rival high-tech companies, some of whom have sued to stop or at least modify it. Rachel Silverman reports for VOA from San Francisco.
i think google is the word for a new digital world.not to forget they stand ground for wikileaks instead of amazon,or paypal.goole helps me everyday to check the internet for my personal needs.i dont use iexplorer, i prefer chrome. they have the tools i need online... google let me look into space or to watch my home from there...google spreads the info for us. so long google is in "good hands" (we say) so long i have no problem with it... i love google... *human transmission off*

40 million books sounds wonderful, but the authors not getting any share of the revenue would be disastrous. A bit suspicious of the Google inc. motives.
