How did you get all this footage man? that's awesome. How did you not have to evacuate before the water was that high?

I spent about 8 years living there and moved out on Dec. 18, 2007. When I saw these video clips, I thought they're fake. All my childhood memories... Gone. Even the people I knew- I don't know where they moved to. Did the flood take over all of Iowa?

I don't want to believe that's Iowa... I would cry deadly if I gone to Iowa & it happened to be flooded. Did the flood stop? Oh, please tell me it stopped I am so frustrated right now. I moved out on dec. 18, 2007. where does the water come from?

I lived there years ago, amazing how hard it is to recognize stuff anymore when I once knew that area like the back of my hand.

Oh, my, gosh! There are so many floods these days, it's hard to try and figure out who to help. I'm glad I don't see Cedar Rapids blaming govt. and demanding govt. entitlements!

the day before the flood took out the court house someone i knew out ran the cops! i found out all the documents about his fleeing from the cops got wiped out! but he sold his car because the cops wouldnt stop followin him

What are the sounds in the background? I appreciated the notes. It's so hard to see the city I used to live in under water. You are in my thoughts and prayers up here in the Twin Cities.

The "roaring" noises are generators trying to run. Many of them were partly submerged. Other noises include people talking around me, rain, sirens in the distance and, of course, the water rushing by.

Great coverage - if you film more, please talk a bit - give us some geographical references - I know the city a little, but if you tell us where you're filming from, that'd be great! Nice reporting!! Sorry for everyone there who has lost property and livlihood!

When I took these vids, you could still safely access the city's skywalk system -- security guards were posted throughout it.
I'm hesitant to write that because this route is no longer safe -- portions of it are now under water. Please, heed the warnings to steer clear of the downtown area unless you are volunteering with sandbagging efforts. It is truly getting more dangerous by the moment.
