Nice video,, My boy is working for your operation. From what he tells me, you have a top notch setup down there. Tried to send some of our rain we had this year to you ,but Mother Nature is female. Keep up the videos,,look fwd to seeing some with your sprayer, and dont be afraid to work that kid of mine alittle harder

We used the stripper heads for the first time this year. Our wheat was terrible (drought). Our best yield was 32 bu/ac and we were furtunate to get that. We use the stripper heads so that we are leaving as much residue attached to the soil as possible. With traditional head you always have a heavier trash trail behind the combines than you do on the outside edge especially if using a 35' or 40' draper. We were really happy with the strippers....now we just need some moisture!

We are in SW Kansas, which is a totally different world than SW ILL. We get an avg of 16"/yr and the last 16 months we've had about 5". So I guess you could call it drought issues.
what are the songs?

Well yes and another reason for the stripper head is you get a little more straw off of it. Another good reason is that if you strip the wheat and it rains the straw is still standing up and you have a choice of when to windrow it if you do bail the straw.

@8300JohnDeere You are exactly right. The quality of straw you get by swathing the straw left by a stripper head is much better than cutting wheat low with a draper and running the material through a rotor machine.

Interesting seeing those stripper type heads you used to harvest wheat. What's the idea behind using them? I could see it would be good with leave a good amount of standing stubble. Would work well for our no till operation. I'm liking you're 3 point linkage planters as well...we might go for that style soon.

@johndeere1993 The 1720CCS planters work well in our operation. They are easy to manuver and track directly behind you which helps stay on our strips. Orthman actually makes the bar and you can even get a 60' but the bar is Orthman green and the row units are put on in an Orthman factor. (i think)
