Aaron Jasper ties one of his very favorites for a "dry-dropper" rig. This fly not only acts well as an indicator but it takes plenty of fish too. Enjoy!
Tip: When I wrap the post; loosen the vise and point the eye of the hook down, then do the pinch-loop technique so it doesn't bend the post and your wraps don't come off. then when you're done "looping" make a half-hitch to hold the thread and reposition the hook.
I bring my post material under the hook and up. It keeps the post in place and helps add a bit of bulk at the thorax. Don't mind parachutes, but hate tying catskill style dries.
Thanks Aaron for the great fly. Good luck to you this season. You do a good job tying. Getting ready for the april steelhead run here. Then we'll float a few of these flies in different color patterns for browns in june.
thanks for leaving in the troubles you had when tying the post. i know when i first started tying it drove me nuts, but every tyer in the world will have the same problem, just most vids on youtube are cut to make the tyer look perfect. thanks
