Like most mordern fighters they are designed to pretect the pilot. Just like cars they protect the people inside.

Like a pilot, the flight control software is supposed to be able to deal with any change in wind speed

This footage actually shows how solidly built that little plane is. The airframe doesn't disintegrate into fifty million pieces at once and the forward fuselage remains intact. Pilot walks away with minor injuries & bruises.

USA have had the same problem, especially with the f-22 and many more jets.

In this case, the pilot walked away only to crash yet another Gripen in '93, which is also on video and youtube. He survived that one too, but unsurprisingly decided to retire from the test pilot position.
