  • Damnit, mine is plastic!! I replaced mine and went the cheap way!! It was pretty easy to replace, but I don't really feel like doing it again because the belt was the biggest pain in the butt.. How long did it last and where exactly are you from because maybe colder weather might have something to do with the breakage?

  • @jumac81880 I live in Alabama so I assure you cold had nothing to do with it. The plastic impeller is a time bomb IMO. Not only is the impeller crap, so is the bearing. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the Stewart water pump. Lifetime warranty. I have installed them on other cars and they are awesome!

  • Do you know where to find metal replacement parts?

  • @TigerOscar78

Sure do. Several places but my favorite is OEM BImmer Parts dot com. Max is a good guy.

  • No. But it is easy enough. Small drain plug on the passenenger side.

  • what make was the failed water pump with that plastic impeller?

  • @yk10yk The first one I had that crapped out was OEM, that one was a 6 month old unit from Auto Zone, not sure the brand.

  • so replacing a water pump and thermostat does not call for special tools that the dealer has? my dad who is a mechanic wants to replace those on my 2006 530i ...but im nervous that it calls for something my dad dont have?

  • Thanks for posting this video. Big help to DIY'ers!

  • this is great. funny as hell, too.

  • I noticed you didn't install the O ring. is it ok to ahead without it? and it you did put , where exactly does it go?

  • all that leftover coolant in the thermostat and the water pump, do you have to dry it or is ok to put it back on like that ?

do you flush the system after putting the thermostat and the water pump?

  • AGAIN .. 10:00 dammit ...OK Brother you saved money changing your water pump, so is time to buy one new tripod to you camera :)

  • OOOPPPPSSSSS.... 09:28

  • Thanks man you ROCK!!! Cuz of your vid I didnt get ripped off from a BMW mechanic, he wanted $1100 to replace H2O pump & thermostat. I ordered the part your recommended and had my dad's friend do it for me. God bless you and yours for educating people like me so we dont get ripped off by Bernie Madoff BMW mechanics.

  • @devenking dude yeah they are insane awesome! yeah I'm in their one day shipping area (nj) but when i order i get everything in the mail the next day with all the confirmation emails instantly letting me know how it's going

  • @DrMotorDude -- Bavarian Autosport is awesome! Too bad it took me all these years to find out about it!
