@cal63look True, but at least when they nickle and dime you, they're only nickles and dimes and not hundreds like with some old American cars (witch I love as much). With enough preventative maintenance, a lot of expensive problems can be avoided. Basically, old VW's are like Harley's. unless you know how to work on them and have the patients to do it right, you shouldn't own one. Otherwise they end up rotting away because someone didn't check the fuel filter or adjust the valves.
