I don't think that Schmuel did not try to take Bruno to die with him, because he didn't know that he would die in that room. He just thought that was taking bath. He just invited his friend to visit the place he lived. He was just a litle kid. At least, at that time the kids didn't have much information to grow up like this moment.

But dude, Bruno wanted to go inside because he thought that the camp was a fun place, and Schmuel just wanted to please him because he loved Bruno as a brother. They became very good friends. Besides, Schmuel didn't know they were going to die. I really don't understand how 49 people agreed with your comment. I guess they didn't watch the whole movie or perhaps they did not understand the english because of the accent.

Furthermore, those parasitic lice, all of whom stupidly pursue conquest in the name of their wrongfully claimed "mother-land" have proven themselves the fall of many great civilizations. Ranks of their barbaric kind have destroyed Rome, and plunged the world into nearly 1000 years of darkness, with their paganism. In 1777, they proved through their own greed to be nothing more than mercenaries when they, as Hessians stormed our home, a refuge for millions and razed our towns.

The Germans are all pathetic and cowardly. They have no concept of right and wrong, they are inherently spineless knaves, and if it weren't for them, millions would not have died in the Great War, including the thousands of innocent Americans aboard civilian ships that they killed in U-boat attacks. The Germans are subhumans who seek to infect all the corners of the world, like the plague, and have no place in a prosperous and civilized world.

@freemind1722 well, of course some people used the situation to enrich themselves , but the majority of german population was a mindless crowd, influenced by hitler propaganda.

We just didn't know how to react and we didn't expect hitler to be such a menace, the mass just wanted hitler to improve the german situation.

All in all we weren't prepared for something like this.

Hitler was way too convincing and the masses just followed him mindlessly.
