1971 Sony TC-580 Reel-To-Reel Tape Recorder

In addition to that, here is another demonstration of my Sony Reel-To-Reel tape recorder model TC-580. It has an ESP Auto Reverse feature where you can play forward one side, and play it backwards on the other side. "CassetteMaster" also has the same exact model, but it's a really cool tape recorder and it's AC Bias. It does have a 3-speed control and a set of buttons.

It works perfectly, but I did lubed it with 3-in-1 oil and it finally runs once again. If you've seen my last video, the capstan wheel was frozen, but finally, the capstan wheel runs very well after completing the lubrication. The only two missing is the head cover where it's missing the Sony logo and the words "Three Motor Servo Control" is still missing and the pinch roller cover.

It's from the mid-70's, but I'm not really sure. I got this from my uncle along with my '72 Akai 1721W and a bunch of reel-to-reel tapes. I hope you'll like it!

@AllAmericanFiveRadio Thanks! The only slight issue is that the recording works only on a right channel, but there's no audio on the left when recording. I'm not really sure if I can fix the left channel, maybe if there is a dirty head of something like that.

Hi...I just got my dad this unit off of ebay and it plays forward for a second then auto reverses and plays backwards?

It plays forward for as long as he holds the play key down. As soon as he lets it go its auto reverses and plays backwards...any thoughts?
