Rodney C. Smith, 41, of Janesville, formerly of Portage, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 29, 2007.
Rodney was born March 17, 1966, in Portage, the son of Charles "Chuck" Smith and Renee Lasse Smith. He was a lifelong lover of music, an avid NASCAR fan, a talented guitarist, and a certified car nut, having raced at Wisconsin Dells Speedway. His love of laughter and his ability to lift others' spirits will be sorely missed. Rodney was loved by so many. He worked for Rocky Breezer for several years, and currently owned his own speed shop, Outlaw Motorsports, Janesville.
Rodney was blessed with five children who survive him, Ryan Smith of Poynette, Thea Smith, Logan Page of Oshkosh, Rodney Charles "RC" Smith Jr. of Portage, and Trina Smith. He is also survived by his father, Charles "Chuck" Smith of Hanover; sisters, Faith (Ed) Georges of Evansville, Ind., Nicole Smith of Pardeeville and Jonette (Jim) Ferguson of Pardeeville; brothers, Peter (Victoria) Fandrich of Briggsville, and Charles "Charlie" (Karen) Smith of Hanover and Daniel Smith of Louisville, Ky.; and other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Renee Lasse, in 1996.
