STILL A CHILD
If you knew what I was going through
You'd approve of what I had to do.
Putting you away for the rest of your days,
Play on my heart and tears me apart
I walk away with you on my mind,
It's killing me to leave you behind.
You're begging me to take you home,
But I feel so guilty because I leave alone
Cause I'm still a child when I look in your eyes
And it makes me cry and it makes me cry
Now every hello feels like I'm saying goodbye
Goodbye good bye goodbye
If I could have you back for one more day
Would you reassure me what I'm doing is okay
Would you comfort me and ease my mind,
Cause only you can help me find my way

I couldn't stop crying when I heard this song. You have summed it up perfectly. My mom has been in care for 12 months and its been the hardest thing we have had to do. Thank you for this x

Thanks for sharing this beautiful song. The words say it all, the music is very haunting & blends so smoothly with the overall feel. We are going through the same journey with Dementia-Mama-Drama. Good luck & stay strong...

Powerful words and powerful music. Thank you for your gift of poetry and music to express the struggle to watch our loved ones suffer from a terrible condition. Congratulations Bakhus on a beautiful tribute to all who deal with the challenge of Alzheimers.

I can so relate to this the words in this song. My mom died June 1, 2011 from Alzheimer's. I watched her go from the vibrant, fast walking, giving advice (wanted and not so wanted), loving her only granddaughter with all of her heart, and being so outgoing, to someone who didn't take care of herself, couldn't feed herself, couldn't make any kind of sentence, and not knowing who that precious granddaughter or I were. Nothing is more heartbreaking. Please give to Alzheimer's today.
