The Lives of Others (Das Leben der Anderen) is an award winning 2006 film about the Stasi in East Germany, yet the lessons from the film has striking parallels with Great Britain in 2009. Here subtitles are added to the trailer of the film. Numerous references in the subtitles are from news stories in spring 2009 in the UK.
This is great, someone needs to make an American version because it's the same way here. The US government can eavesdrop on citizens, and they don't even need to hide in the upstairs attic to do it. By law they can listen whenever they want right out in the open. But I shouldn't worry. After all, if I'm not doing anything wrong, why should I care if the government hears everything I do or say.
