I think you're on track here. Lonely Planet is a big reason why this place and so many other formerly stunning destinations are damaged so bad. Being rated high in Lonely Planet is sort of a death sentence.
As I'm over 40, I agree with your proposal [big grin]

Phi Phi is the perfect example of what unregulated tourism can do to a FORMERLY stunning destination. Many of the hotels are built illegally on national park land. After the tsunami the gov said they weren't going to allow hotels to rebuild on park land... well, then some bribes most likely changed hands and everything is back to normal - screwed up!
There's trash everywhere and they don't have a proper sewage or waste disposal system.

The nature of surrounding area itself are still alive and well compared with 20 years ago,but now everywhere too many farang ,ambient noise at midnight. I think Phi phi became too well known.
I personally wish phi phi should be back to an idyllic hideaway.

I can only go back 15 years. Back then even it was on its way to being ruined. In spite of the outrageous amount of tourists that go there you can still see the word "pristine" and "unspoiled" etc on many websites. It makes me wonder if folks know what those words actually mean. :-)

ummm...... It's difficult problem. The one of the reason is because there are many youths. So I suggest that less than 40 years old prohibit entering the island...hahaha. Anyway hopefully to be a paradise of the eternity.
