If you were to put liquid oxygen in a glass tube and then wrap some copper wire around the glass tube and apply an electric current, would you get and electromagnet as you would using an iron or steel core?

isnt oxygen paramagnetic? (only magnetic when inside a magnetic field)

OK, so from this video we see that liquid oxygen is magnetic. Now I'm curious as to whether any of the elements in the 1A column from Lithiun to Francium are magnetic also.

its not the element, its the molecule

Doesn't Oxygen automatically form a dipole molecule in its pure liquid form? I can't see how you can regulate whether Oxygen stays as seperate atoms or forms a molecule as a liquid.

@Jaskarsis- A molecule of Oxygen is still an element. The words atom and element are not 100% interchangeable, though each element has it's own type of atom.

Liquid oxygen will freeze the water in your lungs producing a burn. However you can breath in pure oxygen which is at room temperature.
