@zodiac272 In the opening monologue he mentions "rock steps", which makes sense to me. If I were climbing pitch after pitch, I'd be using a cordelette. If I was scrambling or moving along a ridge and didn't need to pitch it out more than occasionaly, maybe I'd leave the cordelette at home and just use the rope. Unracking and setting up a cordelette, and then racking it again might feel like a waste of time for 10 m of belayed climbing on a big day out.

when you did your SPA were they really happy with useing a blow-line???

why wouldn't you carry a cordelette to tie the anchor rather than use an expensive climbing rope? A cordelette can be just as strong depending on material and diameter, and some are much more difficult to cut like spectra or vectran. they also give you your 5.5 meters of rope back for climbing. it's another piece of gear to carry, but they are usually pretty light

As I'm sure evreyone who's watched this will know but just in case for beginners, he is actually doing a re-threaded figure of eight, ie. he's done an eight and put an eight around it.

Glenmore Lodge is in Aviemore, Cairngorm's.

Mtn leader is a week residential course, then course work and time training, usually takes few months unless you're lucky. Then a residential period for the exam. Glenmore Lodge in Glencoe is a great place to go for your training.
