@CAMNZ117 You can cut down on the drag, and gain a bit of speed, by putting the up-wind rudder up. That hull is often out of the water, so the rudder doesn't offer as much control as the lee rudder, which remains down. It isn't required by any means, but if you aren't tacking anytime soon and want a smidge more speed, why not?
@TheQuesnel10 HAHA i know what you mean, I bought one 2 years back. The people we bought it from, never sailed before and bought the Hobie 18 to learn how to sail on. The told use before we hauled it away. "We never pulled the furling jib out when we sailed it, the boat was too fast with just the main sail." Hobie 18 is where its at my friend!
cool video, I just got my hobie 18 here in Mexico and its awsome. I had a 14 before and I used this many times offshore on the west coast of Ireland now thats sailing yeehaa

@talloneeric Are you a member of Sandy hook bay catamaran club?

Have an 18sx and sail out of Sandy Hook, NJ (New York Harbor) and the 18 is perfect for these kind of conditions (mixed bay and ocean)...
Really nice video!
