@noxure The total lack of property usually translates into some sort of gift economy, and while libertarian communists who espouse this kind of arrangement certainly constitute a large part of anarchists, not all anarchists believe in it. Personally I'm sympathetic to the idea of gift economies, but given that we have a rather low Dunbar number, we associate polycentrically and not everyone is social, I don't think it can be extrapolated onto the entire globe.
@nednugent Anarchism doesn't support the concept of property. The theory is that when people can simply take what they want from society, they will also be motivated to contribute to that society.
We tend to think this cannot work because people are greedy and lazy by nature, but this isn't true. People are what they are because they copied each others behavior for generations.
So the question is not whether anarchism is possible, but rather how we can get there.
There always have been and always will be coercive elements in any society. The state is not the only coercive element. Individuals and groups of individuals will tend to seize the power to coerce others. It not the state, then gangs. I am admittedly ignorant of the tenets of anarchism. How do you propose to protect life and property in an anarchistic society? It seems to me that it would inexorably descend into chaos. Do you have any vids on this question? I am interested in an answer.
