Chapter Five: Secrets

Sophia P.O.V.

{Crap, she fainted. Well, at least she likes ‘'em. Ha, she’'s gonna wake up and tell me my present really is better than the cat and necklace combined.}

Mary had just fainted, right after she identified the backstage passes. Kate stared down at the three passes in horror, and Sophia wondered why she seemed so freaked out. Mary’'s parents and Sophia crouched down beside the fallen teen, but Kate seemed rooted to the spot, unable to move.

Kate: *whispering, horrified* Kevin…
Mrs. Rennay: Sophia, honey, could you go get a bottle of water? This has happened before. Once she wakes up she'’s entirely thirsty.
Sophia: *nodding* Sure thing.

Once she’'d gotten to the kitchen, she heard Mary gasp. Sophia snagged a bottle of water and trotted into the room, opening the drink for her friend.

Sophia: *hands water* Here. Drink up.
Mary: Thanks. *takes and gulps it down quickly*
Sophia: Wow. You ARE thirsty.
Mr. Rennay: *glances at Kate who is still frozen* She okay? Does this happen very often?
Sophia: Nope.
Mary: What'’s with her?
Sophia: Dunno. All she said was, "“Kevin",” I guess she meant Jonas since we’re gonna meet the bros, and that’'s a—--
Mary: *screams in delight* I'’m gonna meet the Jonas Brothers!! OMG!!!

Finally Kate snapped back to reality and shook her head.

Kate: Do I have to go?
Mary & Sophia: YES.
Kate: *murmurs so quietly no one can hear her* Oh, dear god, no…...

Mary P.O.V.

By now, it was 11 PM. Mary said bye to Sophia and Kate and they left, Sophia smiling while Kate still looked depressed.

Mrs. Rennay: What is with her tonight?
Mary: Mom!
Mr. Rennay: Your mother has a point, Mary. That girl wasn’'t acting like herself once she saw those backstage pa—--

Mary shrieked once again, and Mr. Rennay gave her a confused glance.

Mary: I get excited every time they’'re mentioned!
Mr. Rennay: *rolls eyes* Anyways...…
Mrs. Rennay: It just seemed like she had a secret or something she wasn’'t revealing.
Mary: *sigh* I’'m waiting until tomorrow to think about this. Oh, you guys got a cat bed, litter box, and scratching post, right?
Mrs. Rennay: Yes, they’'re in our room. Why?
Mary: The cat'’s sleeping in my room tonight!
