Diane, this song is about Australia, but in a way it also describes what has happened to the Yukon since 1970.

The same can be said of North America. The Yukon Territory and Alaska--and Newfoundland--have become too tame. I traveled there in the '70's when it was a real adventure. Coming back in the '80's and '90's, the adventure was pretty well gone.

Slim Dusty was a true blue until the day until he died and even so in death. I may just be a farmer, but I still feel the heat on my back, driving my grandfather's old Ute and finishing the day with a cold beer. I honestly feel sorry for any person who can't experience this lifestyle.

@MackvsKenworth true but i doubt a modern fairlaine could do it also a vw beetle i would trust as well my uncle drove one in the outback for 6 years without a fail or breakdown. Love slim Dusty great music im 22 seen him twice once in 94 in fremantle the other in 97 in mandurah both with my pop. also i would really love to visit the outback i used to live in a small country town i loved it now i live in fremantle still love the bush.

Lived in Derby worked for MRD built the bloody roads up to darwin and across the roebuck in the days when the bush was the bush and hardly saw a sealed road unless we made it LOL
