good shot and luck but one thing.

once you see an avalance coming at you, you may want to move to the side as you did (good), but then stop just below a rock and hug it, not to stand above it as you did. The rock will screen you from the debris. You were lucky the avalance was smallish, late and especially not wide.

i was caught in an avalanche in verbier on the 4th of march 2007 just under the funnyspace. i have been very lucky, could have been dead. from the top of the couloir till the end with a huge drop of about 20 meters. the result was a right leg completely broken and many other injuries. thank's to all the people who helped me that day. guides, secourists, helocopter pilot and so on...it changed my way of riding....
