  • what are those stems in the beginging measures?

  • @2hyeok See the word in brackets 'idem'? That is Latin for 'the same', and basically what it means is that the stems represent the first chord, so the editor's don't have to write out all the notes every time. Also, it makes it slightly easier for the player, as they know that the chord is not going to change, whereas if the notes were there, you'd be more cautious when playing to look out for different notes.

  • The creativity in this is just mind-blowing. I hated this at first, but now I think it's one of the best pieces of music ever written!

  • Did Hamelin himself whistle? He's so talented!

  • Variation 13 wouldn't sound out-of-place in a film noir soundtrack...

  • This is one of the best sets of music ever thought and written. On a Jazzy way...good!

  • i love variation 13

  • @tomekkobialka thank you

  • This is very creative! I need to check Rzewski out even more after I've heard this.

  • "(optional) slam keyboard lid" XD

  • I would probably be more scared of to whistle in the middle of a piece than perform this!
