During the 1999 Pan-American Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Canadian and American baseball teams met in a first-round game. The superior Yanks fell to the Canucks, in large part, thanks to Stubby Clapp's improbable hit in the 11th inning.
As for Clapp, the St. Louis Cardinals' 36th round pick in the 1996 draft played over 900 games in the minor leagues, starring for the likes of the Arkansas Travelers and Memphis Redbirds. Clapp got into 23 games with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2001, putting up 5 singles and 2 doubles, along with 1 rbi (and 1 walk). Richard Stubby Clapp was born in Windsor, Ontario in 1973, and we hope he enjoys the song.
Performed by COUSINS OF THE MOOSE. Available on "We're An Ontario Band" CD. Written by Morris/Kern.
(Since we don't own the footage from the 1999 Games, we thought it best to use our own baseball footage, taken during the 2009 MLB season).
Love it!
