A Lufthansa jumbo jet speeding toward takeoff nearly hit an EgyptAir plane that apparently made a wrong turn into its path.

  • what an idiot....stay in africa man

  • adrain........i did it !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Coincidence? or another jihadist?

  • @Jhondinn It is not the tower's fault at all! They may be good pilots but that doesn't mean they are immune to relative pilot error. Tower told the EgyptAir to hold at Bravo just short of the departure runway. EgyptAir did comply but stopped in the middle of the runway past the holding line. The Lufthansa had rejected takeoff before his V1 speed luckily. It is not the tower's fault.

  • JFK Tower i think they are talking to much in tower an leaving everything just like that ... i believe Lufthansa and Egyptair Pilots they are 2 of best pilots in the world who never done mistake before ..... if this problem happened on the Runway so it's the Tower problem the thing who sitting in Tower he must to Wake up !! not to guide the pilots by wrong way . thanks god for aborting the take off for both planes and pilots and keeping them both in safe . thanks god .

  • They bloke sounds like rocky!

  • oops !

  • Are we going to learn the definitive reason for this "mistake" or since it is an Egypt Air pilot is it going to be hidden from the public? I'm sure Janet Napolitano is on this one right away..... (October 31, 1999)

  • How can you confuse taxiways that cross runways ?

I had a few taxiways mistakes in my local airport at vatsim but i never heard "cleared to cross rwy xx" when i do know that its active and i do have visual on the approaching plane. the rules of "look left & right before crossing" should be retaught by the FAA, as it seems some pilots that fly in the USA are too busy dealing with checklists that they skip some basic safety like checking if the runway is active, or if theres anyone on it.
