Wouldnt really be a mk1 or mk2 if you just used another chassy! you would lose all the characteristics of the car which is the reason people rebuilt them.

haynes manual is the best for rebuilding them. get one also on ebay for about 10pounds

not sure if it was produced in the US to be honest

this is an awesome project man. i can't wait to have my own escort! love the work you did to it.

i noticed that there are some differences between the mk2 '79 in the head lights etc. being round and yours being square. is yours the deluxe edition?

No it was just a 1300 gl! towards the end of the mk2 they gave it a facelift by changing the headlights and grill but i changed it back to the round lights! more video up of it finshed! thanks for the comments!!

hi there as this got the sunroof ..i think sunroofs are sacralidge in these beautufull cars

not a fan of the sunroof either but its a road car and it aint worth replacing the roof!I know guys who have patched them before and they always seem to crack when cornering fast!

should have it finish (for now) in the next 2 weeks or so hopefully! fitted a pinto in just for the summer. rebuilding my xflow is next step!

Hey, how much money did you have to spend to restore the car? Coz I have a ford escort, made in England, travels 8km with 1 ltr fuel. Its very hard for me to find parts for it, I have problems with the front as well as back brakes, and little bit of suspension. Definately need to tune up the engine. I had to change the pistons which was a hell of a job, finding a piston. Sometimes its hard to start and it ain't fast as it used to be. Where can I find a manual book for rebuilding the engine? Help
