Thanks for the prompt reply. What are the relative weights? I need to have access to the internet, but I also need to use simple spreadsheets and do some simple word processing. Can I get cell access to the internet if I need to (no wifi) using the Air. I love the iPad but I don't know if I can work on my files efficiently. And lastly, How hard is it to use the touch keyboard for word processing? Thanks a million.

@nealgladstone The Macbook Air needs WIFI, the iPad 3G does not. you can do spreadsheets and word processing on the iWork apps for iPad, but some functionality is limited. you can get any external apple wireless keyboard for typing or the iPad dock with keyboard. thanks!

What is the smallest laptop Mac available? I'm trying to decide whether to buy a small laptop or an iPad. Weight is an issue. Price, not so much. I"ll be traveling. I need to be able to connect to the internet from pretty much anywhere -- wifi or cell. I understand that with the ipad I can choose cell service at the moment when I need to connect if no wi fi is available. Don't know anything about such plans on a laptop. Suggestions? NG
