Today, Rocky and I review an interesting presentation we saw of Jeff Hayzlett, the Chief Marketing Officer of Kodak. He's turning around Kodak with some interesting ideas of what the future of Kodak will be. Let me just say, IT'S DISTURBING! Check out our take of where Jeff is leading this company.

  • This video provides the most amazing demonstration of perfectly useless opinion (presented by two of the most self-absorbed and self-congratulatory douchbag pseudo-hipsters imaginable) that I've ever witnessed.

  • Two 50 somethings pretending to be hip 30 somethings, what a laugh.

  • 2 words: video response

  • As VP of Programs and Chair of the Jeff Hayzlett event for SMEI Akron, Tim Dimoff, I feel it is my duty to respond "Officially as a Board Member of SMEI of Akron". I would also like to integrate my response as a National Speaker and Authority on the "Emerging Worker", which is the younger generation in the age range of 35 years of age and younger. Additionally, I will speak from the perspective of a father of three emerging children who are all under the age of 30.

  • First, Mr. Lewis, who I know personally & have respect for his prof. abilities, is entitled to & to express his opinion. I was also present at the event by Jeff Hayzlett and also had a chance to talk with Mr. Hayzlett before and after his pres. to gain a little more "understanding" and "clarity" of Mr. Hayzlett's message delivered that evening. I am VERY confident that Jeff, given more time, could have addressed some of the main issues that Sage Lewis has brought forward.

  • First, the younger generations as Sage Lewis points out are definitely more conducive to utilize electronic processes for many of their daily functions. The older generations have even embraced "some" of these electronic processes for their daily lives also. But, the younger generation is utilizing much of their functions through electronics, but even the young generation is still using some level of "print and paper" in their daily lives.

  • This fact was not stressed by Mr. Hayzlett at the event and I would agree with Mr. Lewis that in the future it should be. But in fairness to Mr. Hayzlett, his time did not allow for the total Kodak marketing picture to be presented in detail.

I have traveled across the U.S. as a national speaker and one of the more pressing and requested presentations and trainings I have been repeatedly asked to provide is reference to the "Emerging Worker."

  • We are finding out from our research, interviews, trainings and observations that the emerging worker who are commonly known as Generation X and Y are finding out through personal exp. that they function more efficiently through a "Blend" of processes. By that I mean that this younger generation is embracing some of the older generation methods & processes & finding significant success and comfort.

  • The older generation is doing the same by embracing some of the younger generation's technology.

If Kodak is wrong in thinking that paper and print uniquely presented is outdated, then why has & does Kodak's financial stability, growth, profits, market share, etc. keep increasing? Kodak actually did respond to new market data, younger generation trends, and changes in older generation responses, & I wish I was a stockholder presently and had bought stock years ago.

  • Anyone who bought Kodak stock years ago today is NOT complaining & the proof is in the documented results that Mr. Hayzlett presented at the event.

Years ago advocates that times are changing stated that because of modern technologies, Internet, digital age that with the invention of VHS tapes and now DVD's that the movie theaters will be going out of business because the new digital age is here and the old ways of doing things (theaters) is on their way out.
