  • the name of this sound is RUN RUN RUN,the PASSI `N THRU álbum

  • Anyone who thinks Joe Walsh had a good lead vocal hasn't listened to many good singers in 70's rock. I would have picked Kenner over Walsh any day. The performances of Walk Away and Funk #49 on DKRC were so much better than the ones in the Walsh era.

  • Roy Kenner had an ideal voice for this kind of track, of which there are several on the "Passin' Thru" album. His problem was that he also had to sing the Walsh-era material on stage because the audience demanded it, and he wasn't particularly good at doing so. This difficulty was compounded by the fact that Walsh was often touring at the same time, and performing Funk #49 etc with his own band just the way people wanted to hear it. A no-win situation for this version of the band.

I'm well aware of the order...who played when etc. No need for a history lesson. I own pretty much everything ever recorded by The James Gang, Bush, Troiano, Mandala, Zephyr, Pacific Gas & Electric, and all other related bands. Glancing over the comments, I beleive my initial/reply comment was supposed to be directed towards Jbone306 or JohnnyVisionquest. I may have replied to your comment by mistake. Not sure as I haven't visited this thread in a loong time...over a year.

  • @drprogensteinphp I didn't get it backwards. I said nothing about Tommy. I said Troiano replaced Joe Walsh. That is a fact. Tommy came after Domenic.

  • I saw the James Gang in Dover Delaware, Wesley College, 1972, right after Domenic Troiano replaced Joe Walsh. Excellent concert!

  • @JohnnyVisionquest

Actually, you've got that backwards. It was Tommy who replaced Domenic Troiano. Both Kenner and Troiano joined The James Gang after the departure of Joe Walsh. Kenner stuck around during the Bolin era.

  • @ratthump Point is, the BEST lineup was with Joe Walsh. He WAS the James Gang that we all know.

  • @yourtubesteak U R WRONG Jimmy Fox founded the James Gang. Do your homework!

  • @69Lovett Kenner and Trojiano were in a band called Bush. Troiano was replaced by Tommy Bolin in the James Gang, at the recommendation of Joe Walsh, who had just hired Tommy Stephenson, keyboard player for Tommy Bolin's band Energy.
