  • I ended up replacing my struts and outer tie rod ends. the rattling is gone but the popping is still present and the steering is loose. I'm going to end up replacing the inner tie rods as well as replacing my PS rack.

  • @TwiztedDesirez85 its not letting me post a link every time i try it gives me an error message. to find it i just Googled 97 cavalier recalls and got a list from motor trend.

  • omg awesoem i thought same thing wit that rack issue..... if u got ne documentation on it can u send me a link or whatnot to it !

  • @TwiztedDesirez85 Right now im getting ready to order new Monroe struts. ill replace those and then go from there. then after ill be taking my car to the dealership because there is a recall on the rack and pinon that might just be the cause for the clunking in the steering. according to the recall notice the pinon shafts can be forced upward on left turns and forced back down when making right turns due to faulty retainer clips.

  • i had this issue b4 they toold me it was my strut and combo with the control arm bushings .... got it fixed and now i have this issue again liek a yr later ... cuz its the way the struts r made and the bushings as welll get a new strut n control arm make sure u greese the bushing whiole u put it in and it should solve it
