@SherlockAholic hmmm, from what i understand, to get that special energy/heat from the stones, they should be applied directly on the skin.. is what makes senses to me.

I am a massage therapist and we were told to NEVER place the hot stones directly onto the skin. I always place a dry towel over the back before placing my stones. I also only do one row of stones on the chakra points along the spine.
