  • How do you capture the computer screen? Did you either record it using your camcorder or using camtasia?

  • I usually use Camtasia on the training DVDs I created. On the one above, I captured the screen direct to camcorder using the svideo out on the video card, into the svideo in on the camcorder.

I also used a digital mixer to mix the live camera adn computer screen output during the production. Read about how i did this on my site.

  • You are very good at tutorials. I was wandering what microphone you use.

  • It depends on the video.

For my Camtasia screen movies, I use a Plantronics DSP500 headset.

For live video, I use a Sony ECM 66B lavalier mike.

For situations where I need a wireless mic, I use the Azden mics which I have a YouTube video showing how they work.

  • Hi Bill, great clip. I'm just starting out making my own 'How to' videos but have a question. I can shoot the video okay, I can screen capture okay, but how are you getting the two together as in this clip? When I try to combine footage with screen capture I lose quality on one or the other. For instance are you shooting the screenshots of ebay in video too? Any advice? Also when I output to DVD I get good video but very poor Camtasia screen capture.

  • I capture all screen captures using Camtasia Studio. I edit the screen captures in Camtasia, and import those into my video editing program - Sony Vegas.

I then author the DVD in DVD Architect.

There are several settings in Camtasia recorder which you can adjust to give you excellent screencast quality on DVD.

Go to my site at bmyers com and you'll see a DVD I created showing how to convert Camtasia to DVD
