Originally aired as part of the "Grandma Lorraine's Christmas" episode (Episode Episode SH1212H) on the Food Network, December 7th, 2008.

Cook Time:8 min, Level: Easy, Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:

2 (1-pound) bags cut green beans, frozen
2 tablespoons water
1 stick butter
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
1/2 cup pine nuts
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

Place green beans with 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover and cook for 6 to 7 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over medium low heat. As the butter bubbles it will start to turn brown and give off a nutty aroma. Once it has reached a light brown color, add garlic, cooked and drained green beans and pine nuts. Toss to combine and saute for 1 minute until heated through. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.

Serve immediately.

  • @geezkee And she keeps saying how it gives you "less time in the kitchen and more time with the family"...our family always gathered in/near the kitchen while my mother and grandmother cooked and baked. It's part of what made it all so special!

  • I thought she would take the short cut and add brown food coloring to her butter.

  • Who ever prepares this recipe for their family must not love them much- I would be embarrassed to sever this for a holiday dish.

  • Grandma Lorraine makes me appreciate having a grandmother who could cook. Yeesh.
