The craft doesn't ride well. Too much hull in the water and the tubes/sponsons are absolutely redundant on a boat this size.

A 'RIB' is an excellent boat for what it was originally designed 'a work boat'! designed so that it could come alongside another boat in distress in poor weather, a diving boat because they are easier to roll off. Why they have become a pleasure boat I don't know? they are cold, wet and have thrown more people overboard then any other powerboat I know of. As regards to a sea boat, the hull is that of a speed boat, just because the RNLI use them is as above, They are fun but only for a while.
