The Council on Competitiveness; Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; and Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) hosted the Councils Eastern Regional Energy Summit, the second in a series of four regional summits planned for 2009.

New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine gave the keynote address. Additional participants included Ralph Izzo, president and CEO of PSEG; Richard L. The Summit focused on the rollout of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and the use of energy-efficiency measures at scale to help meet RGGIs emissions targets. The summit series will culminate with the Council's National Energy Summit & International Dialogue in Washington in the fall of 2009.
